National Cherry Blossom Festival is dedicated to blossoms of Japanese cherry trees circling the Tidal Basin. It is an extraordinary site and a large number of visitors gather just to catch a glimpse of the trees. The National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc. (NCBF) was formed in 1985.

The purpose of the Festival Committee is to coordinate, promote and provide for public participation in the Festival. The members are volunteers representing Washington, D.C.'s civic, government and local business community who generously donate their time and resources to preserve the promotion of the historic gift of the trees through cross- cultural exchanges.

Today the National Cherry Blossom Festival is coordinated by the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., an umbrella organization consisting of representatives of business, civic and governmental organizations. More than 700,000 people visit Washington each year to admire the blossoming cherry trees that herald the beginning of spring in the nation's capital.

After the winter thaw, blooming cherry blossoms draw thousands of locals and visitors to Washington, DC, every year. Making their appearance in late March or early April, the beautiful pink and white lacelike flowers surround DC's Tidal Basin.
