The old stone house was established in 1699. Earlier it was a Dutch farmhouse with a lot of historical threads attached to it.

Today, the Old Stone House is operated as a historic interpretive center dedicated to its crucial role in the American Revolution and in the evolving histories of Brooklyn, New York and the United States.

The Old Stone House serves as a dynamic community resource through its education programs and events. In addition to historical exhibits open to the public, the House is available by appointment for tours, classes and rentals.

The Old Stone House, one of the oldest known structures remaining in the nation's capital, is a simple 18th century dwelling built and inhabited by common people. Featured products include hand- blown glass, stoneware, pottery, colonial toys and games and other period products, perfect as gifts for family, friends and colleagues.

The house provides a glimpse of mid- 18th century life in a cramped but functional living space. Simple furnishings can be found in most rooms.
