The Memorials of Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C., as the capital of the United States, is the place where a tourist can get a dose of American history.  All he or she needs to do is to go to National Mall, which is an open park area right in the heart of the city.  At the Mall’s center is the Washington Monument.  Right around the National Mall are memorials such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and many others.

History is not just in the various memorials dotting Washington, D.C.  The Library of Congress and the National Archives are also located there, and they have thousands of books and papers that document the history of the United States.
